Windows 7: To upgrade or not

There has been a lot of hoopla with the recent release of Windows 7. Whether you wish to upgrade or not depends on how happy you are with your current operating system. Keep in mind that support for Windows XP will come to an end eventually. If you are still using XP a clean install will be necessary for the new OS. Remember to backup! Vista users can upgrade from the 32 bit version to the 32 bit version of Windows 7 and from 64 bit to 64 bit. If you wish to upgrade from 32 bit Vista to 64 bit Windows 7 a clean install is the only way to go.
Personally I bought the student version of Windows 7 Professional and could not install the download. I had a 32 bit version of Vista installed. My solution was to install the 64 bit version of Vista which I happened to have, then I installed Windows 7 on top of that. It was a pain but it worked.
